What: Power key menu system for autocad (version 1.02)
This is a bug fix for some major lisp routine failures
one reason for not making last minute changes.
This is FREEWARE. No payment required.
Author: Patrick mckee
file: Readme.1st
Programs: Misc. Lisp routines and menu system for autocad r10
Limitations: Not yet tested fully with release 11
Known limitations: some of the menu features in release 11 are lost
when one of pkey's menu are loaded, this is due
to the fact that this was created with r10 menus.
This is a release to fix some reported bugs with version 1.01. It
appears that some of the symbols were created with a different menu and
a hand lettering font. The font was not liscensed for distribution.
I did not include the font and this caused a slew of problems. I
apologize if this caused any problems. The font has been redefined
using romans.shx if you don't like this remove that font, call up
the symbol drawing and change the font selection when prompted.
Also, some of the lisp files were buggy and I have tried to fix these
problems in as many as I could.
I must ask that if you find a problem with the menu just contact me,
either in writing or via e-mail. I understand that some problems may
make you angry but please try to be understanding with me. I am a
student, I work 30 hours a week and this makes complete devotion to
this menu an impossibility. Although I try to do my best I realize
that you can not please all of the people all of the time. (cliche')
I am still trying to update the symbol library but this is perhaps the
the most time-consuming task. Please be patient. I am also working
on a mouse menu with all symbol libraries and commands in the pulldowns.
This came about because I now work mainly on my notebook whenever I get
the chance, ie. the library, the plaza, the union, before class.
There is an acad help file added. This is merely the explaination of the
key macros defined in mustread.me added to a file called acadhlp.txt.
If you want this to show up like the acad help file does in AutoCad (tm)
then rename the old acad.hlp file to acadhlp.sav and rename acadhlp.txt
to acad.hlp.
This is a menuing system for autocad. It has tablet menus and lisp routines
and symbol libraries and all sorts of nifty little key macros that I have
found to be usefull. Most of the lisp routines are not memory resident
in Autocad, meaning that you do not load them, they are loaded via the
KEY.LSP file macros. If for some reason you do not want to load KEY.LSP
then the lisp routines must be modified in order to run when loaded. I
will be adding another set of lisp routines in the future that have al-
ready been modified to be stand alone, but this will be a completely
different zipped file with a different name - not a part of the PKEY
package.
After reading this file please read the mustread.me file in the pkey12-1.zip
file.
Contained on the diskettes you received should have been the following
files:
pkey12-1.zip (the lisp routines and utilities and tablet dwg)
pkey12-2.zip (the first symbol library)
pkey12-3.zip (the second symbol library)
If any of these files are missing contact me at (501) 677-2875. Or
use my internet or bitnet addresses at the end of this file.
State the problem and I will try to remedy the problem. Do not
distribute this software unless the package is complete, and all
the above mentioned files are intact.
All that is requested at this time by the author is that all
copies distributed complete with documentation (such as it is)
and that if this product is found to be of use.
Optional Reimbursement options (skip this if you want)
There is one way in which you can reimburse this author
for use of the kee power menu - however this menu is FREEWARE
and no payment is required.
1. You can submit new symbols and lisp routines for inclusion
in the next release. Please make sure that the symbols or
lisp files are not copyrighted and have not come from any
other vendor's product, but are of your own design.
full credit will be given, but absolutely no monetary
rewards at all unless future releases are payed for.
and all of this is at my discretion since this is freeware
all submitted items become the property of power key and only
signature credit will be given. Since I receive no monies
no one else does either. I also have a need for custom fonts
or hatch patterns.

This author understands that this product is not perfect for all
situations, but is a powerful tool to aid in the editing process.
Updates will continue to be in a timely manner.
The lisp routines are un-encrypted to allow further customization,
however, in order to get your modification into future updates
please send a disk with the modified part of code, or routine,
and a review will be made. This is a users menu, and it can grow,
if users support it.

Installation
Copy the pkey12-1.zip to your acad program directory. Rename or save your
acad.lsp to save a copy of your old file. Unzip the pkey12-1.zip file into your
acad directory. Do not overwrite any existing files when prompted, write down
which ones were duplicates of one of your own lisp routines and rename them
temporarily, then re-unzip pkey12-1.zip with the -o switch to overwrite any
existing files. This file contains all the program files and lisp routines
for the menu. Make a directory off of the root directory of either c or d
drive, called 'kesym1', no quotes, copy the files pkey12-2.zip and pkey12-3.zip
into the newly created kesym1 directory, keep in mind that 'kesym1' directory
is the symbol directory for the menu (this means that when you load a
menu either ckee.mnu or dkee.mnu you load the menu with the corresponding
drive name) unzip the files in order, always overwrite any prior file messages
as some symbol updates may have been added at the last minute.
Script files:
Some script files have been included:
reconfig.scr............................this reconfigures the tablet by
supplying the answers for the
kee menu.
newtab.scr..............................configures the tablet the first
time a new tablet is needed.
compress.scr............................this script file is used with the
compress lisp routine. Use this
routine with caution some users
have said it bombs when used with
any aec products. Do not use this
menu software with any other menu
template software.
get_it.scr..............................this script file is created when
executing the gf(getfile).lsp
1.scr...................................to be used to open a new drawing
i.e. Acad new 1, from the dos
prompt.
2.scr...................................same as above only open an existing
drawing.
3.scr...................................same as above only enters the plot
option and goes to town. Make sure
your parameters are set, cause this
one does not ask questions. Drawing
must be supplied also.
i.e. Acad dwg-name 3
18.scr..................................used by plot.lsp to plot at 1/8"
scale. Again set your parameters up
first, once the questions in plot.lsp
have been answered, it plots.
this will be updated soon so look
for this to auto set your pens.
14.scr..................................same as 18.scr for 1/4" scale.
f and fit.scr...........................same, plot to fit.
****miscellaneous notes****
Menu files:
Two menu files have been provided one for a c: drive set up ( ckee.mnu )
and a d: drive set up ( dkee.mnu ). Mouse menu due by December 92.
***********************************************************************
Please note that the door routines are accessed by the tools section of
the pulldown menu!!!!!
***********************************************************************
Misc. Files
A file called keeline.lin has been included, this file has some extra fine
line difinitions in it (check it out).
****************************************************************************
CNS.LSP and DNS.LSP are block replacement routines for changing an existing
symbol into one that you are more comfortable with. These were added at the
last and as far as I know they work only to change an existing symbol in the
kesym1 directory. CNS is for a C drive set up and DNS is for a D drive setup.
****************************************************************************
Standard set up:
c:\ or d:\ -----|
| |
| acad............all .mnu, .lsp, .slb, and .scr
| | files.
| |
| |---draft.....this is an optional draft
| directory. The logic is that
| if you execute acad from the
| draft\ directory all of the
| current sessions work is in
| this directory making cleanup
| and back ups much easier.
| this directory is strictly
| optional.
|
|
|
|
|----Kesym1............this is the symbol directory
Hint:
Where ever your acad program files reside so do the power key
program files ( .scr, .lsp, .slb, .mnu )
******************************************************************************
Tablet drawing
The tablet drawing is provided on the diskette or in the zip file pkey12-1
you must plot this out and use this as your overlay for I re-did the whole
deal. Not to bad and after a while you will like it, I hope! At least give
it a try. And then give me a critique, I am asking for it. If you don't
like the layout tell me and if enough people bitch i'll change it, maybe.
that is the best I can do. Since a lot of my time and effort went into this
i am reluctant to change too much.
The file is called pwr-tab.dwg.
*******************************************************************************
Tablet configuration:
To configure the tablet run the reconfig.scr file that came with
your diskettes, it is set to run the configuration automatically.
I understand that I changed the layout from the standard menu file,
this action was brought about for two reasons:
1. In order to facilatate the use of the redefined commands in the
key.lsp.
2. Rather than clash with autodesk on the use of the tablet overlay
I opted to do the whole deal.
*******************************************************************************
Drawing environment set up:
To set up your drawing environment use the pop down 'setup' to start
a new drawing answer the prompts and it should do the set up.
If not then do a normal manual tablet config and use the numbers
provided in the screen area on the overlay.
The symbol library is currently being updated to add more and to clean
up some symbols, and to add some 3d symbols. I have tried to put
together a complete package but I know that despite my best
intentions, I am sure there are some things I am not aware of.
I can take it. Let me have it. If you feel the desire to help
in the creation of a new and inexpensive alternative to the high
priced menu systems currently available, criticism is needed, help
or support is vital. Any help with lisp routines, and other aspects
of the menu are greatly appreciated.
